Scenario 2:

The OnePlaceMail ribbon buttons and tab do not appear when you start Outlook 2010 after successfully using OnePlaceMail for a period of time.

Scenario 3:

Performing a drag/drop operation to a OnePlaceMail folder in Outlook 2010 does nothing. OnePlaceMail does not appear to be working and the OnePlaceMail menu items and buttons are missing.

Solution

Solution 1:

The Outlook process was already running (in memory) when you started Outlook.  Please perform the following (or alternatively, restart your computer) to confirm if this is the case.

  • Close Outlook
  • Select Ctrl-Alt-Del and go to the Task Manager
  • Select the ‘Processes’ tab and see if a process called ‘Outlook’ is listed.  If it is, select the process and hit ‘End Process’
  • Restart Outlook

Solution 2:

If the OnePlaceMail Add-In has encountered a problem Outlook may mark it as Inactive and Outlook will not attempt to load it from then on.

In Outlook 2010 you can access the “Inactive Items” list from: Tools Menu > Trust Center > Add-Ins (as below). If the ‘OnePlaceMail’ is inactive, select "Manage COM Add-ins" (at the bottom of the screen) and click the ‘Go’ button. Put a tick in the ‘OnePlaceMail’ to enable it.

In Outlook 2010 you can access the “Disabled Items” list from: Tools Menu > Trust Center > Add-Ins (as below). Select  "Manage Disabled Items" (at the bottom of the screen) and click the ‘Go’ button. Put a tick in the ‘OnePlaceMail’ to enable it.

This may move the ‘OnePlaceMail’ addin to the Inactive state. Now follow solution 2 above to move it from Inactive to Active state.

Solution 4:

Interoperability issue between Office 2010 and the VSTO runtime, in particular the MIcrosoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Office.Runtime.Internal DLL. Although the issue is surfaced by the DLL that is part of the VSTO Runtime, the solution is to perform a repair of the Office 2010 installation. This can be performed from Control Panel | Programs and Features, select the Microsoft Office 2010 installation, right click and select the Change option and the choose to Repair the installation.

Solution 5:

The Antivirus on the system may be blocking the OnePlaceMail Add-In load. Run the latest updates for the Antivirus and retry. If this doesn’t help, disable the Antivirus program completely and retry. Sometimes the Antivirus software also installs additional Office add-in, you may need to disable these additionally by running through the Antivirus control panel (Settings).

Solution 6:

Another Outlook Add-In is causing a conflict with OnePlaceMail. Try to disable all add-ins other than the OnePlaceMail (OnePlaceMail) add-in.

Solution 7:

The VSTO is referencing the wrong version of the .Net framework.  See article KB0054

Solution 8:

The Microsoft Visual Studio Office Development (VSOD) Support Team have published an article that provides a few more advanced things to try if the solutions provided have not resolved your issue.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsod/archive/2008/04/22/troubleshooting-com-add-in-load-failures.aspx

Solution 9:

The OnePlaceMail version installed is not the correct version for the Office version installed (32/64 bit).  See the following KB article.

If this is the case, un-install OnePlaceMail via add/remove programs and reinstall the OnePlaceMail version which is aligned to the 32/64 bit version of Office.

Solution 10

Ensure you have the latest version of Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime installed (VSTO 2010 Runtime). Uninstall VSTO 2010 Runtime from your machine and download the latest version from Microsoft at:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=158918

Install the latest VSTO 2010 runtime on your machine, enable the add-in following the instructions in Solution 2 above and see if the OnePlaceMail addin now loads.

Solution 11

Enable the environment variable 'VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS' following the instructions in the KB article below and send the full error to your support team:
